In America, holidays often bring together all relatives, friends, colleagues, and just acquaintances. Since I've attended numerous parties there, it seems like this is the only way to celebrate the holidays.

Organizing an event on large number people, I want my guests to have a good time. But how and what to do with them is the question. Last year we held a party for Lyoshka’s birthday. This time I decided to build on the fact that the birthday boy loves music and throw a musical party.

I'm sharing how we did it.

Found musicians

Lyoshka and I love going to the now popular concerts for kids. And I, of course, choose the music that interests me the most. True, the musicians whose songs you hear on audio recordings are not always as good in live performance. But here we are at the performance Dizzy Dutch Duck and couldn't help but fall in love with fiery jazz motifs of popular melodies. The band sounded great. There was real energy from the musicians and one could feel the drive, which is what I consider the main thing in live performance.

At random, we asked the band leader Anton Boyarskikh if they would play for us. He turned out to be a very open, positive and easy-to-communicate person, and happily agreed to congratulate the birthday boy. This is how the idea came up to celebrate a birthday in jazz style and arrange dancing to live music.

It was easy to decide on the color scheme. Jazz is keys, records, hats. So the dress code is black and white.

We always try to choose simple colors that everyone probably has in their home. For example, for a wedding, we chose white, craft and denim, although we initially planned turquoise instead of jeans. But it was easy for all the guests to be “in the know,” even our elderly grandmothers.

Thanks to a single color scheme, the event turns out more stylish and the photos look better.

This time the decor was done by Sonya. She is a true master of party decoration, just look at her “Nautical Birthday Party”. She has long wanted to make flags, hats, coasters and other holiday attributes that are easy to print, color and the design is suitable for any style of event. Well, with the black and white version we didn’t even have to color anything.

Made an album for wishes

We often review last year's album from the Mexican Fiesta. And the fact that there are wishes from guests makes it especially valuable and sincere. Last time, the guests themselves designed the pages for the album; this year we simply handed out small cards on which the guests wrote their wishes.

My advice is to definitely appoint someone responsible for collecting wishes, otherwise it will turn out like at our wedding, the guests happily took photos on Instax, took the photos home, and we had neither photos nor wishes left in the album.
