At the venues of the Moscow Maslenitsa festival, which will be held in the capital from February 17 to 26, citizens are waiting for large number pancakes with sweet, salty and filling fillings.

In total, the center will have more than 30 points selling pancakes. In addition, culinary master classes will be held for guests, round dances and traditional Slavic Maslenitsa fun will be organized. The grounds will be decorated with numerous figures of straw Maslenitsa, an eight-meter-tall ice Maslenitsa and carousels in the form of Dymkovo toys.

Participants will have the opportunity not only to taste the pancakes and learn their recipe, but also to take part in classic Maslenitsa fun. A pancake shooting range, frisbee and curling are organized on Revolution Square.

Cooking master classes will also be held here. Everyone will learn how to cook buckwheat, chocolate, Guryev pancakes, as well as celery pancakes. For those with a sweet tooth - pancakes with peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, baked apple and boiled condensed milk, marshmallows and caramel. Cooks will reveal the secrets of pancake recipes from different countries: Chinese pancakes made from choux pastry with shrimp and tomato dressing, French pancakes with oranges and raspberries, Japanese pancakes with zucchini and sesame seeds.

On Novy Arbat, where four festival venues will be located, Maslenitsa will be made more modern. Here you can see two-meter puppets. In them, guests will recognize avant-garde artists Malevich, Stepanova, Lentulov and Kandinsky. Visitors will be able to take photos with each of the dolls.

New Arbat will also be decorated with Maslenitsa figures. The process of decorating them will turn into a separate performance, as the artists will work right on the site, in front of visitors.

Active entertainment awaits visitors on Tverskoy Boulevard. Near the monument to Sergei Yesenin you will be able to ride a wooden slide about seven meters long. It is stylized as a traditional Russian sleigh with a painting like a Dymkovo toy.

Guests of the festival will be able to play “Kolobok-ball” - the Maslenitsa analogue of broomball (hockey with a broom).

Instead of clubs, visitors will be given brooms, and the projectile will be a small ball, stylized as the main character of the fairy tale “Kolobok”. Muscovites will also be able to take part in another unusual activity - roll large fake cheese heads at speed.

The history and traditions of wood carving will be presented on Klimentovsky Lane. Guests will also see carved window frames and wooden frames from different cities of Russia. At creative master classes, everyone will be able to learn how to draw and paint platbands, decorate gingerbread cookies with glaze, and even grind flour. An unusual art object in the form of the sun, painted rocking horses and flat figures in the style of popular prints will decorate the Kuznetsky Bridge near the TSUM building. A two-meter firebird was created especially for the festival, symbolizing the arrival of spring, which will be installed on Tverskoy Boulevard. On Revolution Square and on Profsoyuz Street there will be boxes for displaying popular prints - amusing panoramas of “Rayek”, the organizing committee added.

“Guests will be able to look inside small houses on wheels, and at this time the artists will replay the popular print story, accompanying it with a story about Maslenitsa traditions,” the organizers said.

Some of the art objects that decorated the city center last year will move to other festival sites this year. For example, in Troitsk, on Sirenevy Boulevard, six Maslenitsa figures in bright outfits, more than 2.5 meters high, will be installed. Last year they stood on the site between Manezhnaya Square and Revolution Square, the organizing committee explained.
