Eastern beauties are distinguished not only by their miniature stature, dark hair and chiseled cheekbones. Another typical feature is the shape of the eyes, narrower and elongated than those of Europeans. Additionally, Asian women are distinguished by drooping eyelids and a weakly defined upper eye fold. Therefore, makeup for Asian eyes is performed using special techniques, differing from European ones in its nuances.

Important nuances

The main task of makeup for Asian women is visual increase and widening the eye shape, achieving the effect of a more “open” look. To do this, makeup artists recommend adhering to the following basic rules:

  • Give preference to light shades of shadows, especially in daytime makeup. Such cosmetics are applied to the inner corners, on the moving eyelid, creating additional volume.
  • Blend the shadows upward towards the eyebrows. This works well for evening makeup, when darker, richer shades are applied to the eyelids.
  • Avoid sharp transitions in colors. It is important to carefully shade and smooth out the shadows and boundaries between colors.
  • Use straight arrows, especially with a heavily drooping upper eyelid. This structural feature can hide the contour underneath, so the curved “tails” of the arrows will look ridiculous. Also, Asian eyes are more suited to slightly blurry, “smoky” lines rather than clear graphics.
  • Choose cosmetics with a matte texture and soft colors. Too saturated dark tones can make the eyes smaller and narrower, as well as pearlescent tints, making them look painful and unnatural.
  • Give preference to basic mascara, without a pronounced effect of lengthening and volume.

Almost all shades of eyeshadow are suitable for Asian women, except for red and brick colors. This range makes the look tired, sore, and makes the eyes appear smaller.

It is very important to pay enough attention to your facial skin in your makeup. To make the eyes look larger and more expressive, the skin should be clean and uniform. Some nationalities skin differ in a yellow tint, for which it is necessary to select the right foundation. For example, makeup for Buryat eyes begins with applying creams or correctors with beige or golden tones to the face and skin around the eyelids. But pinkish shades are practically not suitable for Asian women.

For eyes with drooping eyelids

The drooping upper eyelid hides a moving fold underneath, giving the look heaviness. This feature can also smear makeup, so it requires the use of long-lasting cosmetics or the mandatory use of a primer or eye shadow base.

Step-by-step execution makeup for eyes with drooping eyelids, suitable for daytime and evening outings:

  1. On preparatory stage thorough cleansing, skin smoothing, circle correction, dark spots under the eyes, highlighting the cheekbones with blush.
  2. The upper eyelid is treated with a makeup base, after which golden or beige shadows are applied to the entire surface.
  3. Darker tones (brown or graphite) are distributed across the entire width of the eyelid crease, and then shaded upward to capture the visible area above the crease.
  4. Light beige or pinkish color is applied to the mucous membranes and inner corners of the eyes.
  5. Ash shadows are applied across the entire upper eyelid with a wide brush, and the lower contour is emphasized with a light golden tone.
  6. Using a soft graphite or brown pencil, subtly outline the upper eyelid, drawing the line into a neat straight “tail” and shading it.
  7. Apply mascara to the upper eyelashes in one or two layers.

It is important to remember that when the eyelid droops, the darkest shadows are applied to the crease itself and around it, and the light ones are applied to the inner corners, under the eyebrow. For evening make-up, owners of brown eyes can use blue, purple or green shades

Arrows

The following technique, done with a soft pencil or eyeliner of a muted shade, is also suitable:

  1. The upper eyelid is outlined thin line, capturing only the interciliary space at the inner edge and slightly thickening towards the end.
  2. From the point of the outer corner, a small stroke is drawn in the direction of the temples, slightly raised towards the eyebrows.
  3. From the extreme point of the “tail” a small segment is drawn, directed into the fold of the upper eyelid.
  4. The tip of the last stroke smoothly connects to the base of the arrow, the inner area is painted over.

For narrow eyes A neat arrow is suitable, supporting the overhanging fold and softening it. You can also make a double arrow, drawing neat tails from the upper and lower eyelids, leaving a gap between them that widens the narrow incision

Step-by-step day makeup

Girls of Asian appearance in everyday makeup it is necessary to achieve maximum naturalness, while hiding the drooping eyelid and narrow incision. To do this, it is recommended to use matte shades and soft textures of cosmetics.

Execution daytime makeup step by step:

  1. A primer is applied to the eyelids, followed by a light neutral shade.
  2. The outer corner and fold are tinted with a darker shade, not forgetting about careful shading.
  3. The contour is outlined by a neat soft line, slightly expanding and extending into a straight “tail” at the outer edge.
  4. The inner corner, lower contour and central part of the eyelid are lightened with a white or pale pink pencil.
  5. The upper eyelashes need to be painted with mascara, the eyebrows are emphasized and fixed with gel.

For daytime non-working outings, Asian women can use not only neutral shades of eyeshadow (lilac, green, yellow), but it is important that they remain matte and pastel (not bright).

Evening make-up step by step

Using eye makeup done in correct technique, you can successfully and effectively complement a festive occasion. The rules for performing evening makeup are similar to those for daytime and everyday makeup, but the use of darker and more saturated shades, wide contours and arrows is allowed.

An example of a bright design for narrow Asian eyes for a party or holiday:

  1. The eyelids are covered with a primer, and light gray or white matte shadows are applied on top.
  2. Graphite or brown shadows using thin brush(an alternative is a soft pencil of the same color) draw a triangle. To do this, draw a small line from the outer corner to the temple, bending at an acute angle and running along the entire length of the fold of the upper eyelid.
  3. The contour in the fold is well shaded upward.
  4. The resulting triangle, starting from the middle of the eyelid, is filled bright color(raspberry, green, lilac).
  5. A dark arrow runs from the inner corner, thickening and turning into a “tail” that coincides with the previous triangle contour.
  6. The lower eyelid is emphasized dark color along the eyelash line (purple, gray, ashy).
  7. Apply mascara in 1-2 layers or attach false eyelashes.

For wedding makeup It is recommended to use a lighter color scheme

The ombre technique is excellent for weddings, when several neutral shades are applied from the inner to the outer edge of the eye. In this case, the colors go from light to the darkest, and the borders are carefully shaded to create a “haze”.

For Asian type For faces with wide-set and medium-narrow eyes, the Smoky eyes technique is also suitable. In this case, even the darkest shades of shadows are used, which must be used to paint the entire upper eyelid and emphasize the lower contour

Asian makeup for European eyes

European women often want to look like oriental beauties by doing Asian-style makeup. For example, young girls strive to replicate the makeup of popular Korean idols. To achieve a doll-like effect with makeup, apply the following makeup tips:

  • the inner corners of the eyes and the lower mucous membrane are lightened with light beige or pink shadows (pencil);
  • a little shimmer is added to the bottom line and the area at the bridge of the nose to highlight;
  • from the middle to the outer edge of the eyes at the top and bottom, the color darkens, but without clear boundaries and transitions;
  • instead of eyeliner, a soft pencil is used, which is used to paint only the outline, without the arrow;
  • Mascara is applied in 2 layers only to the upper eyelashes.

European women, who have more rounded eyes, need to extend the incision to achieve the goal. To do this, elongated arrows are drawn, expanding after the middle of the eyelid and slightly lowered after reaching the outer corner, and then rising with their tips upward by 2-3 mm. You can also apply straight double arrows with eyeliner with a gap between the lines.

The Asian face has a special eye structure. When using makeup, oriental girls strive to enlarge the eye shape, as well as highlight the upper fold hidden under the overhanging eyelid. If used for this smooth transitions light and dark shadows, the technique of drawing triangle arrows, straight arrows, then you can achieve your goal.

This is not the easiest task, but what an effect! To create it, I use gummox from Kryolan Soft Putty. With its help, you can change yourself beyond recognition: for myself, I removed the deflection and made my nose straight, slightly sharpening the tip.

Step No. 2: lighten your face and “remove” your cheekbones

I used Peripera Blur Pang Milk Blur as a makeup base. After it “settled” on the skin, I used the lightest shade of the Peripera Inklasting Pink Cushion, which brightened my skin as much as possible. Don't forget to apply it to your neck as well so there is no obvious contrast. Then the lightest concealer comes into play (it can be of any brand). It should be applied under the cheekbone so that any hint of cheekbones disappears. I also applied this product to my chin, under my eyes, forehead and nose. Don't forget to contour: go along the edge of your face with the dark part of the Maybelline New York Master Contour sculpting pencil.

Step #3: change the shape of your face

After the issue of skin lightening has been resolved, you need to take Dodo Label patches, which will give your face a more V-shape. In Asian countries, a special product is sold for this, which we cannot find here, and for the sake of experiment I used ordinary stationery tape, but there was practically no effect. Therefore, it is better to order these same patches.

Step #4: Draw straight eyebrows

Asian women “wear” straight eyebrows, so you need to change the shape of yours (most likely, yours is curved) by straightening them. For this you will need a Dior Sourcils Poudre Powder Eyebrow Pencil. And with the help of NYX Professional MakeUp Gotcha Covered Concealer Pencil I corrected new uniform eyebrows and removed the excess that remained after shading the previous pencil. After all this, you should paint and fix your eyebrows with Kiko Milano Eyebrow Fibers Colored Mascara.

Step #5: Contour your face again

Next comes dry contouring, which can be done using a special NYX Professional Makeup 3 Steps To Sculpt Face palette. I narrow my nose as much as possible and “round” my face in an Asian manner. The forehead should also be visually smaller and lower, so I walk along the hairline. Now it's time for the soft pink blush The Saem Saemmul Smile Bebe Blusher. They need to be applied with a puff to the apples of the cheeks and blended towards the temples. There should be a lot of tonal and sculpting products on the skin. If your face looks about five pounds fuller, then everything has been done correctly. This is very important!

Step #6: Put on lenses and adjust your eyelids

First, put on magnifying lenses. I chose gray shade with black RayRay Gray trim. To make the eyes appear even larger, I used special Thefaceshop Double Sided Double Eyelid eyelid stickers. They help those who are familiar with the problem of drooping eyelids: they remove the crease and make the look more open and open. With these two manipulations, the eyes become unrealistically large.

Peculiarities

Makeup for Asian eyes is aimed at eliminating imperfections and making the appearance unique. Although, Asian appearance is already distinguished by its uniqueness: narrow eyes, mostly with drooping eyelids, plump lips and a round oval face.

Although, yellow skin is not a priori, there are exceptions. So, go to the store and choose a foundation! The main thing is that it is not darker than the color of your skin.

Concealer will help with dark circles. Although, you can avoid their appearance altogether if you adhere to some rules: do not overwork, get enough sleep and use the right means skin care.

Blush

Take a closer look at blush shades of bronze, peach and plum. They will help define the cheekbones, add definition to the face and correct minor imperfections in the shape of the face. If you have very pale skin, choose pink tones.

Shadows

You can choose any shades of shadows when doing makeup for narrow eyes: both cold and warm spectrum. Still, it is worth taking into account the color of the eyes and hair, because Asian women are not always brown-eyed and dark-haired. You can do makeup for narrow eyes using brown, beige, chocolate, blue, purple, pearl, green, gray, cream and coffee shades of eyeshadow. It is better to choose matte shadows in structure. You should avoid pearlescent shadows, they will add fatigue and inflammation to the eyes, the same goes for pink and red shadows.

Of course, you can achieve beautiful and harmonious makeup if you use a minimum of shadows. But you can experiment, because everyone knows about the love of Asian women for experiments and rich images. Of course, for daytime makeup, choose calm and gentle tones, and for evening makeup, choose bright and rich ones; this rule doesn’t even need to be mentioned, everyone knows about it.

Eyeliner

A thin and even arrow is business card Buryat make-up. It's best to use pencil or liquid eyeliner, but if you don't know how to use the latter, it's best to abstain. The arrow colors can be any - classic black and brown or blue and purple. A line is drawn along the growth of the eyelashes, from the inner corner to the outer. You can protrude slightly beyond the edge of the eyelid and raise the line.

Mascara

Typically, Asian women's eyelashes are sparse and short, which is probably why they often use false doll eyelashes. You don’t have to adjust so radically, but choose lengthening mascara. It is applied in two or three layers to give the desired effect. You can lift your eyelashes with special curling irons.

Lips

Choose a lipstick according to the occasion; you can use either a bright one with glitter or a calm matte one. During the day, it is best to stick to shades of pink, peach, apricot, and caramel. In the evening, you are allowed to use cherry, coral, scarlet, and fuchsia lipstick.

Makeup example

Day

For daytime makeup, choose light, warm shades of eyeshadow; you can apply a slightly dark color to the outer corner of the eye. But first, take care of your facial skin. Even out the tone, hide all the problems. Instead of liquid eyeliner, it is better to use a pencil; it will look much softer on the eyes. To enlarge narrow eyes, use a white pencil to line the tear duct behind the lower lash line. Draw a line with a dark pencil under the growth line to the middle of the pupil. Paint your lips with peach or light pink lipstick, you can also use lip gloss.

Evening

Evening makeup for Asian eyes should be rich and bright. Eyeliner, false eyelashes and plump, voluminous lips will help you achieve the desired look. It is best to draw arrows with liquid eyeliner, slightly bending towards the crease of the eyelid on the inside. You don't have to let down your lower eyelids. Paint your lips with bright red lipstick or almost transparent lip gloss. The first option will add sexuality, and the second - tenderness. To make makeup look more impressive for narrow eyes, apply false eyelashes. It takes a minimum of time, and the effect is amazing. You can find examples of make-up at step by step photos higher.

National Asian beauty is perfect, it is different from the rest, it catches the eye, and it is especially pleasant to look at those cases when competent makeup for Buryat eyes is done. Buryat girls are not always suited to fashion trends and advice from trendsetters in the makeup industry, even the most eminent ones. Modern representatives of this nation strive to look like models from glossy magazines, dye their hair and use blue eye shadow, which destroys their uniqueness and originality.

Such a girl by nature should not strive for brightness, they are already beautiful, and you need to think about this first of all when choosing cosmetics to match your image, and not vice versa. Being original is not boring, it doesn’t suck, it means being proud of your unique beauty and grace!

Being original is not boring, it doesn’t suck, it means being proud of your unique beauty and grace!

When deciding on makeup for Buryat eyes, you should pay attention special attention on your skin tone and spend time on this aspect. Girls with Asian features are usually given yellowish skin by nature, which does not go well with the pink shades of correctors, foundations and makeup bases. In this case, it is better to use beige, tan and gold tones. The rule must be followed - foundation should be a little lighter than your own skin tone in order to avoid a stale look of makeup and a tired look. To give their face freshness, Buryat women need to use blush in their makeup, the ideal option being neutral or natural shades, for example, peach.

Now let's turn to. If you really want to make the Asian cut of the eyes larger, then you should decorate the eyelids in light colors, namely gold, pale pink. As an example, you can give this makeup option to create a sophisticated and gentle image Buryat women: neat eyeliner, a little pink eyeshadow and a lot of mascara on the eyelashes. It’s not a bad idea to try another option - beige matte shadows and mascara, which together form the image of a natural Asian beauty, as if she is not wearing makeup at all. But champagne-colored shadows or other neutral shadows in light colors will help highlight the beauty of the eyes and raise the eyebrow line, which will also make the eyes look larger. If there is no desire to hide your national flavor, but, on the contrary, you even want to emphasize it, then the eyelids should be decorated in a more dark colors– black, dark blue and purple, brown and gray, bronze.

The look of Kazakh eyes: beautiful nature

Another representative of the Asian type of appearance is Kazakh women, each of whom should master the skill of how to create makeup for Kazakh eyes, so as not to lose this feature to nature. The oriental charm and uniqueness of the Asian look have long been actively used by the world's leading makeup artists; cosmetologists know many techniques and ways to decorate slanted eyes, a feature of which can be sparse eyelashes and a prominent shade of facial skin, as well as drooping eyelids. But all this cannot be considered a disadvantage, this is a characteristic feature, and what is especially attractive in this type of appearance needs to be emphasized, and what is not very attractive should be corrected with the help of cosmetics.

Makeup for Kazakh eyes requires more careful selection of funds decorative cosmetics for eyelids and eyelashes than in the classic European case. As always, before directly decorating the eyes, the skin needs to be prepared for this - cleaned, moisturized, corrected, matted. It is even somewhat easier for Kazakh women to deal with the issue of color choice, since they have dark hair And brown eyes, which are suitable for almost the entire palette of shadows, both cold and warm shades. The task is different - they need to be correctly distributed before the eyes, highlighting particularly attractive features and hiding what is not particularly attractive. Most successful combinations will become beige and green, dark gray and cream, pearl shades.

But what makeup for Kazakh eyes does not tolerate is the red range, since the use of its shades will give Asian eyes even more swelling, making them look tired and tear-stained. It is important to correctly emphasize your ethnic features, and not hide them, trying to look like an ordinary European or even mistakenly highlight what you shouldn’t. Each race is undeniably beautiful in its own way, and there are no ugly girls, just incorrect makeup!

What makeup suits Asian eyes, how to choose the ideal tone for “yellow” skin, and what beauty trends should moon-faced girls adopt? Professional makeup artist, stylist, personal shopper ASIA studio style Elena Shotkinova knows the answers to all these questions.

P.A.: Elena, first tell us about your experience in the field of beauty, please. How did your passion for the art of makeup begin?

E.Sh.: Since childhood, I love to draw, dress up, and design. I have always drawn inspiration from literature, painting, fashion magazines, cinema, travel and communication with people. All this still shapes my taste.

At first, I used my knowledge in the field of fashion and beauty to create my own image, and at a certain point, relatives and friends began to listen to me, seek advice, and ask my opinion regarding their appearance. It was they, my close people, satisfied with their own reflection in the mirror, who convinced me of the need to develop in this direction. And, in gratitude for the services rendered and the time devoted to them, they began to pay for my work. So the hobby logically grew into a professional activity.

I received a diploma as a makeup artist and opened ASIA studio style. We provide a range of professional services for make-up, style consultations, shopping support in Irkutsk, the Irkutsk region, and often work with clients from Ulan-Ude and Buryatia.

But even now my learning does not stop for a moment. Every day you learn something new, adopt other people’s experiences, and experiment. After all, a professional is an expert, he is always aware of all trends and new products, he is the first to learn and begin to apply new techniques. Of course, I follow the work of my colleagues, world-famous celebrity stylists and makeup artists, bloggers and major trendsetters. We live in the information age, when acquiring knowledge is not a problem, all you need is desire and inspiration.

And I am inspired by the surrounding beauty - the beauty of nature, objects, faces. Well-groomed, stylish, tastefully dressed people always attract my attention and often delight me.

P.A.: Many Moscow makeup artists admit that they do not know how to paint Asian eyes. What do you think is the most difficult thing about makeup for Asian girls?

E.A.: Indeed, many makeup artists fall into a stupor and do not understand how to paint a “flat” eye, devoid of an obvious fold of the upper eyelid, how to correct wide face, protruding cheekbones or our chubby cheeks. They often use inappropriate textures of cosmetic products and choose the wrong intensity of pigments. In a word, they do not take into account the features of an Asian face, of which there are also several types. But for many Asians, they all look the same.

In this regard, everything is clear to me and my colleague (note: ASIA studio style makeup artist Irina Shotkinova), we ourselves are the owners of a bright Asian appearance and know first-hand all the nuances that may worry our girls. In addition, I myself have never been satisfied with the work of a “European” makeup artist, so I decided to become a professional myself.

E.Sh.: Let me start with the fact that if you have any problems with your skin, it is better to immediately contact a cosmetologist. No extra money? There are also free public clinics. The main thing is not to engage in amateur activities! As for make-up techniques, they are more international:

1) moisturize your skin, paying special attention lip skin;

2) upon application foundation never don't distribute it in dots all over the face for subsequent shading - in these places it has time to gain a foothold and you will eventually get spots;

3) I advise intensively draw the interciliary space black or dark brown pencil. This will make your eyelashes appear thicker and your gaze deeper;

4) always curl your eyelashes for a more wide-open look, intensively painting them from the roots in two layers with lengthening mascara;

5) it is necessary to have two shades of foundation in your cosmetic bag: light and darker, in order to mix, choosing the color that suits you best suitable for skin depending on the time of year. Also, dark and light shade will allow correct the shape of the face, make it sculptural.

6) I recommend that you master techniques for oily and dry face correction by signing up for a makeup lesson with professionals! The makeup artist will introduce you to your own face and its proportions. Will teach you how to select cosmetics and master basic makeup techniques that suit you. (Such a service with the option of disassembling a cosmetic bag is presented in our ASIA studio style, its duration is 1.5 hours, the cost is 2000 rubles.)

“Any image will not be complete and harmonious without makeup. The “correct” make-up will always highlight your natural beauty and correct small imperfections. It is believed that girls and women who “don’t wear makeup” have too high an opinion of themselves!”

P.A.: What do you think are the most common makeup mistakes Asian women make? How NOT to apply makeup? Do you have any beauty taboos?

E.Sh.: For several seasons in a row, emphasis on eyebrows has been in fashion. I am glad that so much attention has been paid to this element of the face - eyebrows, along with tone, are indeed the most important point in makeup. But at the same time, they most often become the subject of ridicule. Unfortunately, very often our Asian beauties literally disfigure themselves with black, clear, intensely colored at the bridge of the nose, too short or too long, old-fashioned round or triangular graphic arts. Dear girls, please give up once and for all eyebrow tattoo and use grease pencil, even if your eyebrows are missing as a genre. Eyebrow tattooing is a taboo! Grow yours as long as possible and contact a professional makeup artist to create a fashionable, beautiful, naturally defined eyebrow line.

Work Asia Studio Style

It is often possible to observe incorrect application of blush. Girls either draw the shadow low, then the lower part of the face “floats” down. Or you can clearly apply blush along the cheekbone cavity, then the cheekbones become even more pronounced. Remember, blush is applied to the apples of the cheeks towards the temples!

And one more thing - There is no such thing as brown blush!

You should also be careful with pearlescent textures. When thinking about adding shine, beware of another effect - swelling.

I would also like to note that our Asian girls often sin by wearing evening makeup. To put it mildly, dark smoky eyes and/or red lipstick don’t look entirely appropriate at 8 am.

P.A.: How to choose the right foundation/BB cream for Asian skin? Do we really all have a predominant yellow undertone and therefore should we look for foundations with yellow pigments (and in no case with red)?

E.Sh.: Asians are a yellow race. Indeed, most people living in Asia have a dark, yellowish skin tone, especially those living in southern latitudes and areas with intense solar activity. But let's not forget that northern peoples, such as the Yakuts, Evenks, Western Buryats, etc. often have very fair skin with pink undertones or even uniformly snow-white skin of a cold shade.

The ideal tone should blend with your skin tone and match the color of the skin on your neck. Moreover, the color of the foundation always depends solely on the natural shade of your skin at a given time of year (darker in summer, lighter in winter).

Again, there is a neutral palette of colors: from the lightest to the darkest with beige pigment. Such products are suitable for everyone, including helping to neutralize both excessive yellowness and pink, reddish tones.

Each trademark tonal products are presented in a cool, warm and neutral palette. Designations of tones with the letters W, C, N mean: warm - warm, cold - cold, neutral - neutral.

P.A.: What makeup trends are there today that are perfect for Asian women?

E.Sh.: Our type of appearance is now in great demand in the global fashion industry. Asian models take part in the best shows of the season and set trends, inspiring us all!

In the spring-summer ’15 season, ideal radiant skin devoid of imperfections, wide eyebrows, and Nude makeup are unrivaled.

If you are the owner of sunny freckles, this season they do not need to be covered with thick corrective products, but even need to be emphasized.

For Asian eye makeup: feel free to draw graphic, jet-black arrows. The thickness can vary from thin for an office option to thick and curved, a sort of theatrical option.

An alternative is bright eyes, with unusual colored arrows along the upper or lower eyelid, or double arrows, when black is duplicated on top of color:

Or maybe someone will like it monochrome application of shadows on almost the entire eyelid, for example, yellow or bright blue.
