This summer I was preparing for graduation. I brought the dress from abroad, had my hair and makeup done professionally, even went to test the creation of the image - everything had to be perfect. And, damn, it was very inopportune, the evening before graduation, my nail broke, and very badly... I had just done a manicure the day before, I can’t even imagine how it happened that the nail cracked... it looks like I would have to take it off, cut off the entire length and redo it ... It was so offensive, almost to the point of tears. True, a familiar master calmed me down, and in the morning I ran to her, alarmed. She said I could get a manicure so my nails would be beautiful for a few days. She suggested using silk to repair nails. She immediately said that reviews and practice show that she would hardly last longer than 3-4 days, but I could be a beauty at graduation. I had never heard of such a tool before, but it turns out to be so useful! They fixed my nail very quickly, literally in 5-10 minutes. I didn’t feel any discomfort, they did the same French gel polish on this nail, and decorated it very romantically. ring finger painted and rhinestones... Such a beautiful manicure! It was a shame to have to take it off after a couple of days... But I came and it turned out that it was still holding on! We agreed to wait a little. In the end, it lasted for six days, then one finger was redone, the patch was applied again, and I walked for another week. But I’m very glad that everything at the graduation went as planned!

And here comes my story  I was planning to go on vacation to Sochi with my husband and six family friends new year holidays. The day before leaving, I grated cheese into the salad, caught my nail, and ruined it. It was a great pity to be left without beautiful manicure... I came to ClipsTips, I thought, maybe I’ll at least do acrylic extensions, since mine were ruined... And they offered to put a patch on my nail, they say, it will be enough for a few days, and then the holidays will pass. I agreed. The procedure itself is very interesting and simple. A piece of this silk is glued to the nail so that it completely covers the crack and steps slightly on healthy nails. Silk for repairing nails - it has a sticky layer, so you cut out the desired piece, tear off the paper from the bottom - stick it on and you're done. I filed it where necessary, polished it, applied glue, dried it, polished it again - and then regular manicure. I did it with a specially light gel so that it wouldn’t be too noticeable, but the silk is so thin that after processing it doesn’t stand out on the nail at all. Plus, the silk itself was glued to the entire length of the nail, trimmed carefully - the plate itself just turned out a little thicker. In general, I went through two weeks with one patch, that is, all the holidays - the nail did not bother me at all, the manicure did not crack, and no chips appeared. I took it off and the nail was almost grown to where it needed to be, I cut it off and trimmed the rest. My saving silk!

I have my own nails, one and a half centimeters long, strong. I treated them for a very long time, strengthened them, take great care of them every day, protect them. And it’s wild for me to imagine that because of one broken nail I could take and cut off the fruits of my labors. Well, seriously, I will never do this. We are all human. Sometimes my nails break - for example, not long ago a hangnail appeared on my nail, I forgot to trim it, I started putting on a lace blouse - the nail got caught, the hangnail turned into a crack, and clearly at the “bottom” of the free edge, almost to the middle of the nail. I put my hands on my feet and come here to repair it. They quickly made a patch, plus I strengthened my nails with powder and asked for a transparent gel polish to fix it accurately. A week passed, I took it off, the patch was applied again, another week - then the crack “grew” to the edge of the nail, I cut it off. That's all! And I kept the length of my nails, I didn’t have to cut anything off! Therefore, I don’t know what reviews others have, silk lasts a long time for me. I know that the crack will not go away, but this lifesaver gives me the necessary time to restore the nail. Silk for nail repair is a thing! If it weren’t for him, I don’t know how I would manage my nails!

I, fool, really love manicures and my long natural nails - but I take care of them completely incorrectly. My hands sweat unpleasantly in rubber gloves, so I wash dishes, floors and do other household chores without them. This does not benefit the manicure, and when there is no gel on them, the nails often break (in general, the plate is not very strong, just mediocre). Not long ago I broke my nail before the holidays, it cracked exactly in the middle of the free edge, it was a pity to cut it off, I wanted to go on vacation with long nails. They offered a cool thing - silk for nail repairs. They said it would last a couple of days, well, at least for a while. It was a shame to cut it off. They fixed it quickly, in a matter of minutes, and covered it with a transparent gel - by the way, it wasn’t even noticeable with the coating. It took five days, managed to go on a visit to another city - the patch lasted, and then came back and cut off my nails for nothing. I'll grow it again. To be honest, I came across very different reviews, but this little thing helped me. Yes, albeit temporarily, I was able to wear it a little longer long nails, although I thought that nothing would help them. Thanks to ClipsTips and the masters!

A broken nail is a reason for frustration for any woman, because it not only spoils the manicure, but can also cause a lot of inconvenience and even pain. And if before there was no other choice but to cut it down, now such a breakdown is not a problem, you just need to make an appointment at a salon where they will restore it or increase it for you. I recently had to find out how nail repairs are done and what is needed for this.

Why do nails break?

Brittleness of the nail plate can be a sign of a host of disorders in the body - temporary or permanent, a lack of various substances (for example, calcium) or recently suffered surgical interventions with general anesthesia. My case is just the latest - after rhinoplasty, not only the condition of my skin, but also my nails, which usually do not peel or break, sharply worsened.

After the operation, I managed to break three nails at once (and even mine couldn’t save them), I had to urgently run to a nail technician and have them repaired.

Types of nail repair

You can fix what's broken in different ways, depends on what kind of damage.

  1. The tip is broken off. Then the easiest way is to build it up using gel and then cover it with gel polishes just like everyone else. If this is done by a competent master, then he will not be different from the rest.
  2. The nail has peeled off. Then it needs to be strengthened so that in the place where it became thinner, it breaks completely. This can be done using .
  3. The nail plate broke “alive,” that is, not at the regrown end, but in the middle, forming a wound and a hangnail. This is very painful, the hangnail clings to everything, and if nothing is done, it will catch on something and finally come off. There will be a lot of blood and possibly tears. Therefore, such damage must first be treated with something disinfectant, covered with a band-aid and waited for several days for the wound to heal. Then you can contact a specialist who will restore the plate using silk, a base for gel polish and acrylic powder.
  4. The nail breaks not across, but along. Unfortunately, most often this happens not due to mechanical damage, but due to internal problems of the body. If you notice a longitudinal crack, then you urgently need to start strengthening the nail plate using any of the above methods. A small one can be removed with gel polish, but for cracks that have already begun to spread, you will have to use “heavy artillery”: nail repair silk, gel or acrylic.

How to repair a nail using silk

My case falls under the third point, so silk was used to repair my nails. Here's what you need for this:

  • silk for manicure
  • gel polish base
  • acrylic powder
  • LED lamp
  • nail file
  • nail scissors

If your nails are prone to brittleness, then all this can be purchased for personal use and you can do nail repairs when you need it. Here's how it happens:

  1. We remove the old gel polish (you can file it off or).
  2. We file down the hangnail to remove its protruding part, and also remove the cuticle.
  3. Apply the first layer of gel polish base.
  4. We cut off a small piece of silk and glue it on top of the base on the part of the nail plate where there is a break, and cut off the hanging edges of the silk.
  5. Cover with the base again until the silk is completely wet.
  6. Sprinkle generously with acrylic powder and shake off any remaining residue.
  7. Dry the nail under the lamp for 2 minutes.
  8. We file the hardened coating along the edges to remove excess silk, and polish it on top so that the surface of the “patch” is level with the nail plate and there is no “sill”.
  9. Once again we cover everything nail plate base, carefully level and dry under a lamp to obtain a smooth, glossy surface.

The silk under the base becomes transparent and almost invisible, and the acrylic powder, falling on the texture of the fabric, evens it out and makes it smooth. Now you can do any manicure, but the coating must be thick to hide the consequences of nail repair, which may still be noticeable.

Features of manicure after nail repair

You can do any manicure on a repaired nail - regular polish, gel, acrylic, gel polish. But you should consider how you will remove this manicure. You need to file it down carefully so as not to remove the silk. But it is better to refuse gel polish remover, because it can dissolve not only the color coating, but also the base on which the “patch” is held, then the nail repair will have to be done again.

I have tested the durability of this type of nail repair many times – it lasts until it grows back. As it grows, this entire “structure” can be filed off in the same way as other nails; it is quite hard, and if done correctly, it does not peel off or crumble.

Nail repair silk is a very effective and reliable tool that will help eliminate the need to cut off a broken nail at the root. Now even a crack on the surface of the nails will not cause discomfort.

Bioreinforcement

Natural spider silk, thanks to the unique weave of threads and high strength, as well as the loose structure of the material, can imitate natural nail and used as a material for correcting extended nails.

Everyone knows what to shoot artificial nails- a very painful process, after which the free edge becomes soft and brittle. The process of growing a natural nail plate can take up to long time and be accompanied by fragility. An effective remedy for this procedure is bioreinforcement.

What is it? This is the correction of weak nails using biological material - fibroin, which is a waste product of the silkworm.

The bioreinforcement procedure has several advantages. The thickness of the silk is identical to the thickness of the nail plate. Thanks to this property, the nail becomes smoother, cracks gradually grow together, which allows you to freely use manicure products. Another important feature of this procedure is the ability to blend harmoniously with the natural shade of the nail plate, due to which the repair site remains completely invisible.

Operating principle or instructions for use

The easiest way to restore a broken nail is to nail salon. However, it often happens that there is simply no opportunity to go to a specialist, and a broken claw requires urgent repair. There is no need to panic - you can do this procedure yourself. To do this you will need the following tools:

  • directly the silk itself for repair;
  • nail files with various abrasive coatings;
  • nail scissors;
  • special glue.

  1. First step. It is necessary to prepare the surface of the broken nail. To do this, make several movements with a nail file in the direction from the base of the nail to its free edge. This is necessary in order to smooth out the broken edges and also remove shine from the surface.
  2. Step two. Cut from silk required quantity material so that it can cover the completely formed crack. Silks for nail extensions and repairs can be found in any cosmetic store. If you don’t have it on hand, you can use an ordinary medical plaster or a tea bag (without contents).
  3. Third step. Apply a small amount of glue to the damaged area and carefully apply nail repair silk to it. Using an orange wood stick, smooth the material onto the surface of the nail plate. In order to ensure more effective adhesion, these manipulations should be repeated several times.
  4. Step four. After the glue has completely dried, you need to use a sanding file to carefully remove its excess and other irregularities, while smoothing the surface of the nail. Next, you can apply a small amount of texture varnish - this will help level the surface and completely hide the marks of the broken nail.

Every woman periodically has to deal with the problem of brittle and weak nails. Sometimes they begin to peel and break for no reason, sometimes after some harmful external influence, for example, after spring cleaning in the house without gloves or after gardening and contact with the ground. Often fragility is side effect reception medications, unbalanced and unhealthy diet, diseases and stress. In any case, they need treatment and strengthening, and one of the popular ways to make a manicure more durable is to strengthen the nails with silk.

The essence and features of the procedure

The first thing you need to understand when going for silk nail strengthening is the fact that this procedure has nothing to do with healing. It is aimed exclusively at strengthening the plates physically, protecting them from external influences and preventing chipping. It can be compared to putting protective armor on your nails. They will not become healthier; this requires several other measures: nourishing masks, baths, taking vitamins prescribed by a doctor.

This procedure uses natural silk, which determines the cost of its implementation. The technology for strengthening nails with silk is quite simple and straightforward, so figuring out what goes for what won’t be too difficult. During this procedure, small pieces of silk are glued to the cleaned nail plates using a special adhesive solution, repeating their shape.

This material protects nails from external damage, makes them stronger and stronger. Moreover, with the help of such strengthening, you can significantly level the surface of the plates and preserve the nail, which has already begun to break.

When and to whom is it shown?

Some women are afraid to subject their nails to such procedures, believing that silk strengthening will further worsen the deplorable condition of their nails. In fact, there is no need to be afraid of this procedure, since if carried out correctly, it is completely harmless. If you are one of the adherents of naturalness, then silk extensions and strengthening are the most suitable option for you.

Silk used to repair and protect nails is a soft natural fabric woven from thin fibers. They are 75% fibroin and 25% sericin. This fabric is very thin, but durable.

When performing manicures, silk is used in the following cases:

  • when there are cracks on the free edge or near the bed;
  • a piece of the free edge of the natural plate is broken off;
  • for chipped nails;
  • for strengthening natural brittle and thin plates.

When performing nail repairs, silk acts as a flexible spacer between the glue and the plate. An experienced master will be able to repair a broken nail in 10 minutes and the manicure will be saved.

Stages of implementation

Strengthening and repairing nails with silk is not a very complicated procedure, but it is painstaking and requires a certain amount of endurance and patience. It is carried out in several stages:

  • the plates are degreased, the broken edge is leveled and cleaned using a nail file;
  • a piece of silk is glued to the crack site;
  • the junctions between the silk and the plate are polished to eliminate existing irregularities;
  • Finally, the plates are covered with a layer of transparent or colored varnish.

In the case when extended nails are repaired, acrylic and gel polishes are additionally used.

Silk for gel polish: instructions

Often, owners of thin nails, which are almost impossible to grow to at least a length of 0.5 cm, since they begin to curl or simply break off before reaching 2 mm, try to somehow maintain the length by applying a gel polish coating to them .

Recently, a new procedure has appeared in salons - strengthening nails with silk under gel polish. It involves pre-coating your nails with silk to give them greater strength. This procedure is carried out as follows:

  1. A hygienic manicure is performed and, if necessary, the cuticle is removed;
  2. Nails are treated with a buff to remove the shiny layer and disinfected;
  3. Primer treatment is carried out to improve the adhesion of the plate to silk and gel polish;
  4. A layer of base product is applied, pieces of silk are applied and this layer is dried in a UV lamp;
  5. The already dried layer of base with silk is sanded to eliminate unevenness.

This strengthening of nails with silk under gel polish can be done on both natural and artificial plates.

Ideally groomed nails of the same length are difficult to maintain in this condition even with very careful care. Often, at the most inopportune moment, one nail cracks or breaks off completely, significantly spoiling the overall impression of the manicure with this fact.

What to do in such a situation - file all the nails down to the length of the broken one? You can try to correct the situation and repair damaged nail using silk.

Repair materials

If your nails are particularly brittle, you should without waiting another breakdown, visit a professional manicure store.

There you can easily find everything you need materials for emergency repairs: silk, silk glue, orange stick, file medium hard, decorative stickers or glitter.

It is not necessary to purchase additional decor for manicure; it is recommended to use it to disguise the repair site. In addition, coating with varnish with lots of glitter will help give the nail more strength.

Silk nail repair technology

If you do not have special silk, and the nail urgently needs to be restored, you can use improvised materials, up to disposable paper napkins.

Such repairs will not last long, but will help in an emergency.

  • increased strength;
  • the ability to perfectly follow the shape of the nail;
  • minimum thickness, helping to hide the fact of repair.

Universal qualities this material will help even in such unpleasant situations when the nail breaks in the middle of the nail plate. It is not possible to shorten such a nail with scissors, since part of it is still tightly attached to the skin of the finger.

In this case it can help nail repair, which will allow you to grow it to a length where cutting it will not cause pain.

Repair technology
quite simple. The crack on the nail is filled with glue, after it dries, a piece of silk is attached to a new layer of glue, which is slightly wider in size than the crack itself.

Can for enhanced strength glue an additional strip of silk across the first one. When the glue dries, the nail with the silk patch is polished with a file and covered with a layer of varnish.

A nail repaired with silk is usually lasts about a week. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated several times, which will allow the nail to grow to the required length.

Silk repair is also good because you can easily do it yourself if you don’t have time to go to a salon.

How to use silk to repair nails at home?

Repairing your nails at home only takes a few minutes:

  1. First of all, it is necessary polish the affected nail. Special attention should be given to the crack - the surface of the nail in this place should become perfectly smooth. After polishing, fill the damaged part with glue. If the nail is completely broken off, carefully connect it.
  2. The next step will be applying a silk patch. Cut a piece of fabric wider than the crack. The repaired nail will last longer if the silk covers the entire surface of the nail.
  3. Degrease the nail plate nail polish remover.
  1. Apply glue, carefully straighten the silk over the surface using an orange stick. If necessary, trim the edges of the fabric. We are waiting for the glue to dry completely.
  2. If the damaged nail was very long, you can apply several layers of silk for increased strength. Do not forget that after gluing each patch, you must allow time for the glue to dry and only then apply an additional layer.
  3. Polishing the nail file to disguise the fact of repair. Do not get carried away with sanding too much; the patch must remain on the nail, otherwise the glued nail will not last long.
  4. We wash off the dust and apply a decorative coating. An additional layer of varnish, glitter or stickers will help hide the presence of a silk patch.
