Is it possible to steam a fur coat from a muton?

Mouton of all types of fur is not the luckiest of all. It cannot be ironed, and it is strictly forbidden to steam it. And why? Because a muton is a straightened sheep's fur. And the sheep, as you know, is fluffy and curly. What happens to straightened hair in wet weather? That's right - they start curling again. Here with a muton fur coat (or hat) after steaming, the same thing will happen. Therefore, here you choose: either you will walk in a muton fur coat, or in a curly one.

What about muton?

There is only one way to smooth out the folds on a mouton fur coat - hang it on a hanger and comb it against the direction of the pile. You can take a special comb or any other, the muton is not picky. By the way, this method can also help other types of fur, if the thought of steaming makes you feel sick.

How to steam fur

The procedure is as follows:

1. Hang your fur coat on comfortable wide hangers that fit the size of your coat.

2. Check for contamination. If there is, remove, otherwise the dirt, after steaming, will stick into the fur even more.

3. Pour clean filtered water into your iron (or any other steamer). And the fur coat will say thank you, and the technique.

4. Wait until a homogeneous stream of steam comes out of the steaming before proceeding with steaming. Drops and splashes of a fur coat are useless! The minimum - the fur coat will be surprised and get wet, the maximum - the fur will deteriorate.

5. Start steaming at a distance of about 20 cm and preferably in the direction of the pile. Use this mode a little while the fur warms up and prepares for the main part of your performance. This is all for his good, otherwise you can burn the skin tissue. And in a fur coat with a burn, you will definitely not become prettier. Therefore, do not rush things, 20 cm and no, no!

6. Is the fur coat warmed up? You can now move the steamer closer. About 15 cm is your goal.

7. And the final touch. After steaming, shake the fur coat and hang it on wide hangers, away from other things. Let it dry and finally straighten out. Thus, we bring the matter to the end and consolidate the result.

While the fur coat dries and comes to its senses, in no case should there be any heating and heating devices next to it. And, God forbid, hang it up to dry on a radiator. You can't even mock your socks like that.

The whole process takes 15-20 minutes on average.

If you are not satisfied with the result, repeat the procedure again.

Steaming sequence

Traditionally, the sequence is as follows: first, small details (collar, sleeves, hood) are steamed, then everything else.

What to do if you decide to steam the fur coat, but the creases are not straightened

This happens if the creases are very strong. You can help the fur coat with a comb. Steam and comb it at the same time. You will comb against the direction of the pile, the fur coat will become more luxuriant, in the direction - the pile will be leveled.

Important!

Don't overwet the fur! If you overdo it with the steamer, then finally calm down and drink coffee. Let the fur coat rest and dry.

But in order to save yourself these 20 minutes and never resort to steaming again, do not store the fur coat in the closet, where, in order to get this fur coat, you have to rest your feet and pull it with all your might. 2. Hang the fur coat on a hanger that fits it clearly in size and place it in the closet. Do not wrap the product in plastic wrap, you can use a cover made of natural fabrics (which allows air to pass through well), or paper.
  3. The closet or dressing room where you store the faux fur should be dry and clean. Take care of the absence of unpleasant musty smell... You can use natural flavors if necessary.
  4. When taking out the item from the closet, before the season starts, knock it out with a bamboo cane. Spread the fur on a sheet and walk over it with a bamboo stick. This will remove dust accumulated on your fur coat.
  5. Fur should be kept exceptionally dry and clean.

A few more important points ...

  • Want your faux fur to look nice, fluffy and not felted? Just brush it regularly with a comb that has sharp, preferably metal, teeth. This procedure should be carried out very carefully, while trying to touch the ends of the villi without catching the base. It is not necessary to extend the comb too deep into the fur.
  • If you often carry a bag over your shoulder or on your elbow, then in places of friction of the strap, the fur can crumple and wipe. When putting on a fur coat, give preference to bags that need to be carried in your hands.
  • Remember, do not attach various pins, brooches and other jewelry to a faux fur coat.
  • Do not forget that fake fur does not like exposure to high temperatures. Do not store or dry products in the sun, near a heater or battery. Also, do not use a hairdryer for this purpose.
  • Ironing the fur or the lining of a fur coat is prohibited.

1. First, try wetting the fur again and smoothing the pile with your hand in the desired direction. With slight deformations, this is enough to return the product to its original appearance.

2. If this does not help, you can use the steam iron without touching the surface of the iron on the fur. Put a damp rag on the fur garment, and go over it with the iron with light, light movements. After steam exposure, immediately brush and shape the fur. This measure is considered radical and requires tremendous professionalism from the performer. If you have no experience with fur, this advice is best ignored.

3. It is best to dry clean the crumpled item. There, a steam installation will walk over it, and it will return to its original form.

4. In order to avoid problems with fur products, do not wear them in the rain or snow.

5. Never use a hair dryer after washing faux fur.

6. If you need to comb the fur, first moisten it with a damp sponge. Then go over the fur with a wide-toothed comb.

7. A cover for clothes made of faux fur is a smart purchase that will allow your fur coat not to wrinkle and prevent dust from getting on the thing. If you don't have a cover, hang it up after each walk. fur on a hanger, especially if you walked in bad weather.

If the pile of the fur has creased, do not leave it in this state. Remember that the longer the fur is crumpled, the more difficult it will be to restore it to its original appearance later.
