In addition to henna in the East, there is another favorite paint - basma. Henna and basma are the most common natural dyes.

Their use at home is not difficult, and the beneficial effect on the hair is great.

Recipes with henna are suitable for giving red hair shades. Basma in combination with henna is used to dye hair in darker tones - light chestnut to black, also fits for coloring gray hair.

Basma is used only with henna or coffee, as Basma alone dyes hair green-blue. Basma contains a blue dye - indigo, and if you add henna to it, the presence of a red component will prevent the appearance of a green tint. On the other hand, the blue component of basma, as it were, neutralizes the rich red color of henna, making the staining result more calm.

Henna is very useful as it contains many essential oils and tannins. It strengthens and heals hair, heals hair roots affected by chemical dyes or improper care, protects against the harmful effects of the sun, stops hair loss, helps eliminate dandruff. It is interesting that henna does not penetrate into the hair structure during dyeing, but stains them for a long time, almost like paint. It contains substances that tighten the outer scaly layer of the hair and give a noticeable shine.

Basma is made from the leaves of indigo. Just like henna, basma is an environmentally friendly product and has wonderful cosmetic properties: it stimulates hair growth and gives it a natural shine, improves hair structure and strengthens roots.

Together, henna and basma for hair also carry a whole range of useful properties. Almost every woman notices that after dyeing her hair becomes shiny and strong. In addition, thanks to these cosmetics, dandruff disappears, and the hair itself stops falling out and begins to grow faster.

You can dye your hair with these two dyes two ways: sequentially one after the other or after mixing both dyes. The results will be approximately the same, but it is better to use henna and basma in sequence (be sure to use henna first, then basma). This method is the most convenient, because if after henna an undesirable hair color is obtained, it will be easy to correct it during the subsequent coloring with basma. This will allow you to control the staining process.

Henna shades with basma

The process of staining with henna and basma is the same as with chemical dyes. The only exception is that before coloring it is necessary to wash your hair and, without drying your head, proceed to apply paint to your hair.

Basma is applied to clean, damp hair with henna or after henna staining.

By changing the ratio of henna and basma, the duration of their exposure, you can get a very different hair color: light to black. It is important that after coloring the hair has a natural look.

Depending on the length of the hair, take from 25 to 100 grams of dry henna and basma powder. The ratio between them varies depending on the desired tone and color intensity.

* Black color obtained by mixing 1 part of henna and 3 parts of basma.
* Light brown shade. Mix 1 part henna and 1 part basma. Keep 30 minutes.
* Light blond shade hair will be given a mixture of 1 part of henna and 3 parts of basma, applied for 1 hour.
* chestnut color obtained by mixing henna and basma in equal proportions.
*Dark chestnut color. Mix henna and basma in a ratio of 1 to 3. You need to keep it for 1.5 hours.
* Light chestnut shade. Mix 1 part henna and 1 part basma. Keep 1 hour.
* Bronze tint. Mix 2 parts of henna with 1 part of basma. Keep 1 hour.

Henna and basma powder is carefully rubbed in a glass bowl with a wooden spoon with hot water, or with a hot infusion of strong natural coffee, or with warmed red wine, until the gruel is thick. Flaxseed decoction, glycerin or shampoo can also be added to the henna solution. These are binding components that help to apply the dye to the hair more evenly.

Separate staining with henna and basma

Hair coloring with henna and basma is separately used mainly to obtain black color (first henna, then basma).

* Black color. Henna is applied to the hair first. They keep an hour. Then rinse off and dry your hair.
After that, a slurry of basma is applied. Hold:

  • 15-20 minutes for blond hair,
  • 1-1.5 hours for chestnut
  • 2-3 hours for blacks.

Henna or basma is applied either by dividing the hair into partings, or simply over the hair, distributing it evenly from the roots to the ends. The paint is vigorously distributed on the hair, then combed out first with a rare, then with a frequent comb, then the pigments will lie more evenly.

Basma gruel, like henna, is prepared immediately before use. To prepare it, the powder is also thoroughly ground, poured with hot water and mixed well. Then the basma solution is brought to a boil over low heat with continuous stirring. As soon as the solution begins to boil, it is removed from the heat. A properly prepared basma solution has the consistency of liquid sour cream.
Basma slurry thickens quickly, so it needs to be made more liquid than henna solution. In the process of work, a little hot water should be added to the basma gruel. We prepare enough coloring solution to be enough to process the entire head. The thicker and longer the hair, the more solution is required.

We apply the prepared gruel of basma to the hair like henna. Just don't wrap your head. This is only necessary when painting black. In this case, basma has to be kept on the hair for quite some time.

We wash off the basma with warm water without soap. You can wash your hair with soap only the next day. Only in the case when the hair color turned out to be darker than required, immediately wash the hair with soap.
Excessive darkening you can try to remove the juice of a lemon, a solution of citric acid or vinegar. But this will not give significant lightening.
Keep in mind that it is very difficult to remove basma from hair, so it is better to underdo it than overdo it.

With insufficient henna treatment of hair, overexposure of basma on the head can cause a greenish tint. To eliminate this defect, the hair should be washed with soap and water and applied with henna for 10-15 minutes. After this operation, the hair will become a tone darker.

Hair coloring with a mixture of henna and basma

With simultaneous coloring, the required amount of henna and basma (50 - 200 grams in total, depending on the length of the hair) is poured into a bowl, poured with hot water and stirred until a homogeneous slurry is formed, similar in consistency to thick sour cream. To obtain the desired shade of hair, a certain ratio of henna and basma is taken (see above). The darker the shade you want, the more basma should be in your hair color mixture.

If you want to get a trendy shade "black Tulip", then in a mixture of basma and henna (2: 1), heated in a water bath, add 3 - 4 teaspoons of freshly squeezed beetroot juice. And if you add 1 teaspoon of olive oil, your hair will become much softer and silkier.

The prepared composition is applied along the partings to washed and slightly towel-dried hair. Along the hairline, the skin is lubricated with petroleum jelly. If this is not done, then for some time after the procedure, your forehead will be “adorned” with a bright yellow stripe.

Creamy paint should be applied to dry or damp clean hair and it is best to start from the back of the head. The back of the head has the lowest temperature, so the hair takes longer to color there. Then apply paint on the parietal and temporal parts of the head, and then along the entire length.
To enhance the effect, put a plastic cap on your head and wrap it with a terry towel.
Hold paint:

  • from 10 - 40 minutes (to obtain a light tone)
  • up to 1 - 3 hours (to obtain a dark saturated tone)
  • areas of the greatest accumulation of gray hair are dyed 2-3 times
  • the rest of the gruel is diluted by 1/3 - 1/4 with hot water and the paint is applied to the ends of the hair.

After dyeing, the hair is rinsed with warm water. When coloring hair with basma undesirable to wash hair with shampoo or other alkaline product at least three days after painting.

Rinsing with acidified water can be done only after a day.

Please remember: if you are dyeing for the first time, then before dyeing all your hair, try dyeing one small strand first.

After dyeing hair with henna with basma it is not advisable to dye your hair with chemical dyes and subject them to chemical procedures (curling or straightening).

How to dye gray hair with henna and basma

With age, the content of the coloring pigment - melanin - decreases in the hair, because of this, the hair begins to turn gray. Gray hair can be hidden with various dyes. To achieve a beneficial result for the hair, you can use vegetable dyes, which will also heal the hair and fill it with nutrients, which means it will have a healing effect on the hair and scalp.

Henna has the ability to perfectly paint over gray hair. For coloring gray hair, the most advantageous are dark shades: brown and black.

If you want to get a color lighter than natural, then the hair must first be lightened by one or two tones with hydrogen peroxide.

After dyeing, the hair looks silky and shiny for a long time. It is enough to tint the growing roots and periodically refresh the color along the entire length.

100g each for short hair

200g each for neck length hair.

300g each for shoulder length hair.

500g each for waist length hair.

Don't skimp on the mix :O).

The result of hair coloring with henna and basma is determined by the following factors:

● Natural hair color to be dyed;
● Hair structure: their thickness, degree of dryness and other individual characteristics. Thin, soft and dry hair is dyed much easier than thick and coarse. Hair bleached with hydrogen peroxide, permed hair is much faster;
● The temperature of the water in which the gruel of henna and basma is prepared, and the temperature of the gruel when applied to the hair. The colder the dye, the slower it stains;
● The duration of exposure to hair dye. The longer the mixture is on the hair, the stronger they stain;
● Proportions in which henna and basma powders are mixed.

Cons of dyeing hair with henna and basma

  • On chemically dyed hair, henna and basma behave unpredictably ... Therefore, having dyed your hair with henna and basma, you will no longer be able to use purchased paints with chemical dyes in the composition until the hair grows back
  • Hair dyed with henna and basma cannot be subjected to any hairdressing tricks associated with the use of chemicals: curling, laminating, highlighting, toning - this is now not for you.
  • If you see a greenish tint, don't panic. It will disappear in a day or two when the basma oxidizes. After 2 days your hair will be completely black.
  • Coloring with henna and basma usually lasts for several months, but it can gradually acquire a red or blue-violet hue, therefore, in order to maintain the desired color, it is necessary to tint the hair in a timely manner.

According to persianshop.com.ua, lidernews.com

Most women have dyed their hair at least once in their lives. Only some use persistent dyes for this purpose, while others use tint, shampoos, tonics. The safest are natural products that do not contain chemicals. These include henna and basma. The rules for their use are described in the article.

What it is?

Both paints have a natural composition, since they are created from plants. Henna is obtained by grinding the lower leaves of the non-thorny lavsonia shrub. And basma is created from the leaves of the indigofera of the legume family. In the first case, a green powder is obtained, and in the second, a gray-green one. The advantage of the funds is a gentle and therapeutic effect on the hair, as they help to strengthen and nourish them.

Henna in pure red color. There are other types of it, thanks to which a golden, red, brown tone is obtained. If only basma is used in dyeing, then the hair becomes blue-green. Because of this, indigo leaf powder is practically not used on its own, it is mixed with henna. Mixing has a great effect. Dyeing hair with henna and basma allows you to get natural shades.

Advantages and disadvantages

Hair coloring with henna and basma is safe. Natural dyes have the following advantages:

  1. Great benefits for hair. Means allow you to solve many problems - loss, slow growth, dandruff, severe oiliness of the head.
  2. Improves the condition of the hair, which becomes shiny, thick, beautiful.
  3. Different shades are obtained without chemical exposure to the permanent.
  4. Can be combined with other natural ingredients that will help diversify the original palette.
  5. Low price.
  6. Ease of use.
  7. Hypoallergenic.

But still natural dyes have disadvantages:

  1. With frequent procedures, the therapeutic effect will be subtle, since natural powders can be harmful: overdry the hair.
  2. Henna and basma are not combined with chemical components.
  3. After staining, it is not so easy to remove the remaining dyes. It takes time for them to wash.
  4. For some time, the hair may have a specific smell.
  5. Choosing the right shade the first time is not so easy. Often the desired tone is obtained only after experiments with proportions and composition.

When buying, you need to check that the dye has not expired. Its quality affects the result of staining.

Types of henna

In stores you can find different types of henna:

  1. Iranian. In its pure form, a copper-red hue is obtained. And if you add other components, the color can change from light to dark copper. The product also has a general strengthening effect, it stimulates growth, makes curls shiny, protects against brittleness and other problems. It has a pungent smell, coarse powder.
  2. Indian. The colors are quite varied. The best is brown henna. Due to the fine grinding, it is easier to breed, it lays down perfectly, it is easily washed off. Indian henna works quickly, has a pleasant smell and a lasting effect.
  3. Turkish. The substance gives restrained and noble tones. Compared with Indian and Iranian Turkish henna, you need to keep it on your hair longer.
  4. Black. The tool is not a one-component. It consists of clove oil, cocoa, some chemical elements. is not completely natural and harmless. Instead, you can prepare a home remedy. To do this, 1 part of henna is mixed with 2 parts of basma. You can add ground cloves, black coffee, strong tea.
  5. Colorless. This henna is not able to change the color of the hair. It is used as a mask and natural shampoo, which give curls strength and shine.
  6. Liquid. The product is ready for use. It has a creamy texture that is easy to apply. The composition does not contain artificial substances.

Which henna to use depends on the desired result. And basma has only one color. The combination of these dyes allows you to get a variety of shades. The main thing is to choose the right proportions.

Contraindications

Hair coloring with henna and basma is not suitable for dry, brittle strands, overdried scalp. An alternative may be their combination with kefir, sour cream, oils. It is undesirable to perform the procedure during pregnancy and lactation: the altered hormonal system negatively affects the uniformity of painting.

Care should be taken when using natural dyes on light hair, as unattractive yellowish-green tones can result. It is better not to choose hair coloring with henna and basma after a perm or using a permanent, semi-permanent dye. In the first situation, a quick straightening of the curls is expected, and in the second, an uneven color is obtained.

You should not use ammonia or ammonia-free paint from well-known companies for dyed hair if vegetable powders have been used before. The result is likely to be disappointing. Sometimes powders lead to allergies: itching, redness, swelling. In advance, you need to test the dyes on the skin of the wrist or the bend of the elbow.

Shades

It should be borne in mind that information on the number of powders is advisory in nature. You will probably need to adjust the proportions. Dyeing hair with henna and basma, although it allows you to get the desired tone, everything is determined by the structure, condition, shade of the hair. To determine how the color meets expectations, it will turn out only experimentally. With each staining, the tone appears stronger and will be more saturated.

If you mix henna and basma in the same amount, you get a chestnut shade of different intensity (for blondes - light, and for brown-haired women - with a copper tint). Keep the mixture for 1-2 hours. For other results, the following relationships are used:

  1. Hair dyeing with henna and basma in light brown color is provided when the components are taken in an amount of 3: 1. The color appears after 30 minutes. The initial tone should be light.
  2. In order for hair dyeing with henna and basma to provide a red color, the components must be mixed in an amount of 2: 1. The recipe is perfect for blondes. Exposure should be no longer than 10-15 minutes.
  3. Hair dyeing with henna and basma in a dark color, for example, bronze, is performed if the paints are mixed in a ratio of 2: 1. But the composition should be applied to dark hair and not washed off for half an hour.
  4. It is possible to dye hair with henna and basma in a dark color, for example, brown. In this case, a ratio of 1: 2 is needed. Do not rinse for 15-50 minutes.
  5. Dyeing hair with henna and basma black - the recommended ratio is 1: 2. Exposure time - 1.5-2 hours.

These are the basic mixing rules. Dyeing hair with henna and basma allows you to get an excellent result. Means are used not only in the form of a homogeneous mixture, but also in turn. Dyeing hair with basma after henna also allows you to get beautiful shades. Then the duration of staining depends on what shade you want to get as a result:

  1. To get a light brown color, first henna is applied for an hour, and then for 20 minutes - basma.
  2. For a chocolate shade, the duration of the first dye will remain the same, while the second one increases to 40-50 minutes.
  3. Black color is obtained by the action of henna for 40 minutes, after which basma is applied for 2 hours.

The amount of dye that is needed for dyeing is determined by the length and thickness of the hair. For short and medium length hair, 100-300 g of dyes are required, and for long hair - 300-500 g.

How to apply?

According to reviews, dyeing hair with henna and basma is quite easy. The rules for performing the procedure are as follows:

  1. Basma needs water to breed. This dye is not afraid of boiling water and elevated temperatures compared to henna.
  2. Lavsonia powder is desirable to dilute with kefir or lemon juice, water and vinegar. An acidic environment makes the color bright, saturated.
  3. The solutions are combined before use, but it is important to ensure that they are not very hot.
  4. Do not use for the preparation and application of metal products.
  5. After coloring, the composition is washed off more easily if 1-2 egg yolks are introduced into it during preparation.
  6. To prevent dry hair, cosmetic oil, flaxseed decoction or pharmacy glycerin are added.
  7. If you take a lot of basma (relative to the amount of henna), then the hair will turn green.
  8. The paint should have a medium density consistency. A highly liquid mixture flows over the face. And the thick one quickly freezes.
  9. It is important that the temperature is moderately warm. Cold dye will act slowly, while hot dye will burn.
  10. It is convenient to use a water bath to heat the product.
  11. Hair should be clean, dry or slightly damp.
  12. If a mixture of herbal ingredients is used, the head should be wrapped with polyethylene, and then with a towel.
  13. With separate application of paint, hair is insulated only when henna is applied. Without this, the color will be very bright. When applying basma, this is not necessary.
  14. To activate blood circulation and enhance the effect of coloring agents, after distributing the composition over the head, you need to drink tea with ginger and lemon.
  15. Do not use shampoo and balm to wash off henna and basma. This rule must be observed in the first 3 days after the procedure.
  16. To fix the color, the hair is rinsed with vinegar or rosehip decoction (1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water).
  17. If the resulting tone is very bright, you need to use olive oil. It is distributed through the hair before washing.
  18. A very dark color can be lightened if you wash your hair with water and lemon juice.

To update the color, improve its brightness, rinsing is performed with the addition of henna and basma. It will take 25 g of each powder, which is dissolved in 1.5 liters. boiling water. The resulting mixture must be filtered, cooled and used as directed. You can use 50 g of one henna for the same amount of water.

What is needed?

There are 2 staining methods: separate and simultaneous. As you can see from the photo, dyeing hair with henna and basma gives an excellent result. But with consistent application, it will turn out to adjust the color.

In any case, the procedure will require:

  • 2 containers;
  • 2 brushes;
  • 2 spoons or sticks;
  • comb-comb;
  • hairdressing clips and hairpins - "crabs";
  • vaseline or fat cream;
  • plastic bag, shower cap;
  • towel;
  • gloves;
  • waterproof coat or T-shirt.

Simultaneous Method

According to reviews, dyeing hair with henna and basma in this way is one of the most popular and in demand. The procedure is performed according to the following instructions:

  1. It is necessary to dilute the dyes in different containers, and then mix.
  2. The composition is brought to a temperature of 40 degrees and left in a bowl with hot water.
  3. The hairline is lubricated with a greasy cream.
  4. You must wear gloves, a robe or a T-shirt.
  5. The hair is divided into 4 parts, and each is fixed with hairpins.
  6. Coloring should start from the back of the head. This part of the hair should be divided into separate strands.
  7. The composition is applied sequentially. It is necessary to move from the root zone to the tips.
  8. Then the temporal parts and the top of the head are treated in a similar way.
  9. Hair must be collected in a bun, put on a bathing cap or wrap your head with a film.
  10. Then the head is wrapped in a towel.
  11. The agent is washed off with warm water.

If the composition is poorly washed out, then a balm is applied to dyed hair, but the shampoo cannot be used after that. This completes the procedure.

Separate way

Staining with this method is performed in almost the same way:

  1. First you need to prepare henna, as it must be applied first.
  2. Clothes are protected with a dressing gown, hands with gloves, and the skin on the forehead, temples, and back of the head with cream or petroleum jelly.
  3. The hair is divided into 4 parts, each is fixed with clips.
  4. The strands are processed in the same way as in the previous method.
  5. When time has passed, you can wash off the composition with water. It is allowed to use a balm.
  6. Then basma is bred, applied to the hair.
  7. You don't need to cover your head anymore.
  8. After the required period of time, wash off the dye.

The separate method is more often used to obtain black, then it turns out to be saturated.

Coloring gray hair

In this case, henna is rarely used as an independent dye. If there is a lot of gray hair, it can give an orange color. Dyeing gray hair with henna and basma allows you to get a natural shade.

Such hair is difficult to dye, so you need several procedures or a long exposure (5-6 hours). Soft hair absorbs pigment faster, hard hair slowly. For staining, phased work is required, the mixture is applied in a separate way. The saturation of the tone is determined by the exposure time of each component.

To get an excellent result, you must follow the following rules:

  1. To get a blond, even light, henna is kept for 2-5 minutes. Then the hair is doused with basma and washed off with water.
  2. For a dark shade of blond, a mixture of henna is applied for 8-10 minutes, and basma - 4-5 minutes.
  3. A light or dark tone of light brown color is obtained after holding henna for 10-40 minutes, basma - 5-30 minutes. The saturation of the tone depends on the exposure time.
  4. To obtain a chestnut color, both powders are applied sequentially for 20-25 or 40-45 minutes each.
  5. A black color will turn out if henna, and then basma, are aged for 1-1.5 hours.

Natural dye allows you to get a new color and treat your hair. But you should not get carried away with these means. You can update the color after 2-3 months, regularly tinting the roots.

Care

To enhance the durability of the shade, do not wash your hair for 3 days after dyeing. For subsequent care, you must use boiled water and a mild shampoo. To keep the shade for a long time, you will need to use a rinse made from 25 g of henna and basma. This mixture should be diluted in water (1.5 liters). The solution is used only in filtered form.

For care after washing the hair, sour milk or curd whey is used. Effective rinses include mint infusion, apple cider vinegar. Chemical dyes can be used no earlier than after 4-6 months.

Tinting is carried out with the application of the composition only on regrown roots. High-quality care is provided with the help of protein-containing masks. If you follow these tips, you can keep the bright color and shine of your hair for a long time.

Harm

Basma in its pure form dyes hair green-blue. Basma contains a blue dye - indigo, and if henna is added to it, then the presence of a red component prevents the appearance of a blue-green tint. And the indigo blue pigment (basma) neutralizes the bright red-orange color of henna, as a result, making the result of staining more natural shades.

When dyeing hair with natural vegetable dyes, especially for the first time, it is impossible to immediately correctly predict what the final shade and its intensity will be. The ratio between them and the time of contact with the hair is selected individually depending on the density, thickness, length and initial color of the hair.

Dyeing hair with henna and basma is not always easy.

Without proper experience, the process of selecting, diluting and mixing the right proportions of dyes and the actual painting itself is quite difficult, long and tedious. It may take several hours to keep the mixture on your hair.

Natural vegetable dyes are not as resistant as chemical ones. In order not to wash it out ahead of time, the hair should be washed with more “gentle”, mild shampoos (without sulfates), without using deep cleaning shampoos. The same applies to rinses, conditioners, balms.

In some individuals, due to the peculiarities of the structure of the hair, the vegetable dye pigment cannot penetrate into its cuticle and gain a foothold, and therefore does not stain the hair. In this case, you can try using henna marked “for body art” - it is very concentrated and gives a brighter color.

With vegetable dyes it is quite difficult to immediately completely paint over gray hair - only 30-40% of gray hair. Henna and basma stain the outer shell of hair keratin. They do not change the color of the melanin in the hair core. Therefore, dyed gray hairs will always differ significantly from non-gray hairs in the brightest color, since they are dyed much more intensely than these.

Some individuals may be allergic (itching, burning, redness, etc.) to basma or henna. Some learn about it only in the process of painting. You can test in advance - briefly applying a little paint to a small area of \u200b\u200bthe skin.

With frequent staining, basma and henna dries the hair. Oversaturated with pigment, the hair is covered with a film, under which various nutrients and natural grease do not penetrate. As a result of not being nourished by oily substances and moisturizing ingredients, too much use of these dyes can cause hair to become dry and brittle, lose its shine, and dull its color.

Basma, as well as henna, is not advisable to use for persons who have recently been dyed with chemical dyes. Otherwise, the reaction of chemicals and basma with henna can give a completely unpredictable result - up to a blue, green or even crimson hue.

Before proceeding to regular dyeing with henna or basma, you must wait at least a month until the synthetic dye is partially washed out of the hair. To speed up the process of washing out, you can apply for a decapitation (washing) procedure in a professional salon.

Benefit

Basma perfectly complements henna - when mixed with henna, it colors hair in darker and deeper shades. Henna can be used without basma, but henna cannot change black hair color. Henna without basma dyes hair only in copper (reddish) tones (from golden orange to dark chestnut shades). Some, in the absence of basma powder, replace it with ground coffee, but then the shade will turn out not as dark as after basma, and it will quickly wash off.

Basma and henna: the secret of lasting color

Combining different proportions of basma with henna, you can achieve a natural color, including gray hair - from bronze and chestnut to dark chocolate and black. Subject to all the rules of dyeing with these natural dyes, the hair acquires a beautiful rich color and a healthy glow, becomes thicker and lush.

One of the secrets of a beautiful and lasting color after applying these dyes is to gradually saturate the hair with color. With each new staining, the intensity and depth of color increases, and shine increases.

Henna and basma have a healing effect on the hair follicle, so the hair begins to grow faster.

They are not only persistent natural dyes, but also have softening conditioning properties. After applying henna and basma, hair becomes elastic and easy to comb.

Basma, used in tandem with henna, creates the thinnest protective film that reliably protects each hair from damage, which generally improves the structure of the hair, restoring their natural healthy shine and vitality.

Despite the fact that henna and basma are completely of plant origin, they should not be abused even for medicinal purposes. Subsequently, after dyeing, as the hair grows, it is enough to tint only the growing roots once a month, and dye the hair along the entire length much less often - once every 3-4 months.

How to paint with henna and basma

In order to prevent drying of the hair and avoid trouble with their stiffness, henna is kneaded on kefir, and any cosmetic oil, glycerin, and a decoction of flax seed are added to the coloring composition. Also, 1-2 egg yolks can be added to the paint - the powder will be easier to wash off, and the coloring mask acquires a healing effect.

To avoid oxidation and changes in the properties of the composition of vegetable paint, the powder is poured into a non-metallic container - preferably enameled or glass and stirred with a non-metallic spoon (wooden can be used).

Basma needs to be diluted only with water. But the coloring properties of henna are better manifested in an acidic environment. If you have dry and normal hair, then it is better to dilute henna not with water, but with kefir or yogurt. In this case, kefir does not need to be heated. With oily hair type, henna can be diluted in fresh heated lemon juice (or with an acidic liquid - water with vinegar, herbal tea with lemon, wine, etc.) 10 hours before dyeing, leaving the mixture to infuse in a warm place. The difference between henna diluted with kefir and henna diluted with boiling water is that on water the color turns out to be duller, dirty, comparable to rust. Thanks to dyeing on kefir, the hair acquires a deep and rich color.

The consistency of the finished dye should be moderately liquid - too liquid diluted slurry will drain - and as a result, the hair will be colored unevenly. Too thick paint is also undesirable, because the hair is dyed in an aqueous solution, and with a lack of water, the mass will dry on the head before the hair is dyed. And very thick henna or basma can harden with a crust on the hair in a few minutes.

The temperature of the decoction should not be very hot, since henna loses half of its coloring properties from boiling water, but not too cold either. The mixture must be heated on a steam bath somewhere from 55 to 70 degrees. Boiling water (100 ° C) can only be used for basma, henna is baked at this temperature and its coloring properties deteriorate. Using rubber gloves or a brush, try to apply the dye to your hair immediately before it has cooled. The colder the dye, the slower it stains.

A creamy mass is applied along the partings to washed and slightly towel-dried hair. Hair should be clean and slightly damp before application. This will get rid of fat and other contaminants that prevent the dye from interacting with the hair. Although vegetable paint can be applied to both dry and wet hair. But in wet hair, the structure is softened, which contributes to better penetration of the pigment and uniform application of paint. The hygroscopicity of the hair increases with the softening of the upper scaly layer.

The peculiarity of henna is that if you do not cover your head when dyeing, when combined with oxygen, a solution of henna on your hair will give a fairly bright color. But if the solution with henna is closed as soon as possible with a plastic wrap and a warm towel (depriving oxygen of access), then after dyeing the color will turn out to be less bright and a reddish tint will appear on the hair. With sequential staining, when you are already using basma, you can not cover your head.

After you have applied natural dye to your hair, wrap your head with cellophane or aluminum foil (parchment paper can be used) and wrap it with a slightly warmed towel. From time to time, slightly heat the foil with a hair dryer. After that, you need to try to increase the blood circulation of the vessels of the brain - heat enhances the effect of the paint. To do this, you can drink any strong or alcoholic drink: tea with lemon (ginger), coffee (possible with cognac), mulled wine, 20 grams of cognac, etc.

In order not to disturb the pigment saturation process, after the dyeing procedure, you can wash your hair with shampoo no earlier than 3 days later, otherwise the color will quickly wash off.

The final hair color after dyeing with henna and basma will fully appear only after a few days, and in a warm environment - on a sunny beach, or in a solarium, it accelerates. Therefore, you should not carry out such staining on the eve of important events. On the hair, this paint lasts about 2 months.

The first time, as a rule, it is not easy to achieve the desired color, so you can weaken (mute) an unwanted color or remove the dye from your hair using masks with olive oil. Apply warm oil to dry hair, leave for 20-30 minutes and rinse with shampoo. This procedure is repeated until the desired result is achieved.

If, when combined with henna and basma, the hair turned out darker than desired, you can rinse it with water acidified with vinegar or lemon juice. If, after dyeing, the hair turned out to be not dark enough, you can dye it with basma again.

After dyeing your hair with henna and basma, you can maintain the intensity of the color by rinsing with these vegetable dyes. In order to renew the old color and keep the shine of the hair, you need to pour 50 grams of henna (or a mixture of 25 grams of henna and 25 grams of basma - depending on the desired color) into 1.5 liters of boiling water. Carefully filter the solution, cool and rinse the hair with the resulting infusion. In this way, you can refresh the old coloring with henna, if the shine of the hair has disappeared, and the tone has not become bright enough.

ADDITIONALLY

Depending on the length of the hair, it takes from 20-50g (for short hair) to 100-200g (for long hair) of basma, henna powder. The more basma added to the composition, the darker the hair becomes. However, when there is too much basma in relation to henna, the hair will acquire a greenish tint. The longer the mixture is on the hair, the more they stain.

The paint is kept from 20-30 minutes to 1 hour (to obtain a light shade); or from 1 hour to 3 hours (for a rich dark tone). The maximum exposure time of the pigment to the hair is 3-4 hours (to obtain an intense black color). If you just need to strengthen your hair, practically without changing their original color, the paint is kept for no more than 10 minutes. Areas of the greatest accumulation of gray hair are dyed 2-3 times.

Henna and basma - proportions for the desired color

Approximate proportions are: Initial color - Desired color (henna + basma) exposure time

  • Blonde - Light red (2 parts henna + 1 part basma) 15-20 minutes
  • Fair-haired - Red (1.5 parts of henna + 1 part of basma) 20-30 minutes
  • Light brown - Dark red (1.5 parts of henna + 1 part of basma) 30-40 minutes
  • Dark brown - Chestnut (1 part henna + 1 part basma) 1.5 - 2 hours
  • Chestnut - Bright chestnut (1 part henna + 1 part basma) 1 hour
  • Black - Black (1 part of henna + 2 parts of basma) 1.5 - 2 hours

If the hair is too red after dyeing with henna and basma, re-dye it with basma. If as a result you get an unwanted color, the procedure can be repeated by adjusting the ratio of dyes.

To obtain a rich black hair color, you can use stepwise separate dyeing - first apply henna for a while, and then basma. If you apply them separately, you can get a fairly stable shade of black. For better coverage of gray hair, gray hair is also recommended to be dyed sequentially.

Hair can be dyed with henna and basma at the same time.

To do this, henna and basma are mixed before dyeing, and if the amount of dye does not matter in the separate method of preparing solutions of henna and basma, then in this case the ratio of the components on which the result of dyeing depends is very important.

Pharmaceutical scales are needed to prepare the dye solution.

You can use a beaker, conditionally assuming that the specific gravity of henna and basma is the same.

For normal hair of medium hardness A.V. Konstantinov offers the ratios of henna and basma indicated in the table.

The measured amount of henna and basma is poured into the prepared bowl and mixed well until a homogeneous powder with a uniform color is formed. The mixture is poured with hot water at a temperature of about 90 ° C (this is the average temperature, given that henna cultivation requires water at a temperature of 80 ° C, and for basma - 100 ° C). After a homogeneous gruel of henna with basma is formed, you need to let it cool down to a temperature of 40-50 ° C, after which you can start applying it to your hair.

When coloring the roots of previously dyed hair, the hair is washed and dried. Henna and basma are bred in the same way as for primary coloring. The gruel is applied only to unpainted areas of the hair. If gruel gets on previously dyed hair, spots may appear. The head is covered with parchment paper or polyethylene, wrapped on top with a terry towel (hair cannot be crushed). Having endured the necessary time, the composition is washed off without soap.

Henna and basma can be used to dye hair bleached with hydrogen peroxide. In this case, they are painted very quickly. You should also reduce the exposure time of henna and basma when coloring hair after a six-month perm. However, if the curled hair has grown strongly, then the coloring should be temporarily abandoned, as it will turn out to be uneven: uncurled hair closer to the roots turns out to be lighter, and the ends are darker. If it is necessary to dye your hair, then you should first dye the hair that has grown to the color of curled hair, and then dye all the hair.

One of the remarkable features of henna is the possibility of its use in a mixture or after coloring with other dyes. So, for example, to give the hair a golden hue, they are first lightened, and after washing they are moistened with a liquid solution of henna (2 teaspoons per glass of hot water). After 10 minutes, the hair is rinsed with warm water. It is known that after curling the permanent hair fades. The same solution will help revive them somewhat, make the color brighter.

For coloring short hair, the slurry is prepared thicker, since it does not hold well on such hair, it drains. Oatmeal can be used as a thickener.

In conclusion, it should be said that the joint method of dyeing hair with henna and basma (although it is tempting) in a hairdresser should be refrained from, since it is difficult to predict the result for sure. If it turns out to be fresh henna and stale basma, then the color will be red, if basma is fresher than henna, then the hair color can turn green, and only if the components are the same freshness, the hair will take on a relatively natural shade. It is clear that not a single craftsman who respects his clientele can afford to work at random. So, if there is no confidence in the relative freshness of henna and basma, it is better to use a separate method.

Dyeing your hair in the desired color is not difficult. But chemical dyes have a detrimental effect on curls, lead to their depletion, loss. Natural dyes gently color the strands, do not harm them. On the contrary, they give shine and silkiness.

staining methods

Staining with henna and basma can be done in two ways, which one to choose - decide for yourself.

Separate way

The bottom line is to apply henna first, and then basma:

  • Wash your hair, pat dry with a towel, do not dry with a hair dryer.
  • Dilute the henna in the desired proportion (depending on the chosen color).
  • Wrap your head in a hat, towel. Hold for the right amount of time (depending on the chosen color).
  • Rinse the curls well under running warm water.
  • Apply a balm, because shampoo can not be used. With it, it will be easier for you to remove grains of powder without damaging the color of your hair.

Simultaneous Method

The essence of the method is to mix henna and basma, coloring curls immediately:

  • Cool the mass to a temperature of 40 degrees so that it does not cool down, you can put it in a bowl of hot water.
  • Divide the head into parts, paint the roots first, then move to the tips.
  • Depending on the chosen color, keep the mass on your head for the right amount of time.
  • Wash off in the same way as above.

Neutralizing too dark a color

To get rid of a too bright shade after staining with basma and henna, it is worth applying vegetable oil to the clean hair along the entire length. Preheat the product in a water bath. Keep the oil on your hair for half an hour under a plastic cap. Then wash with shampoo.

The color will wash out a little, your hair will be saturated with useful substances, it will become even softer, silky. Do not do the procedure twice, hoping to double the result. You will only give the curls excessive fat content.

For many generations, they have dyed their hair with natural dyes. You can ask your grandmother, she probably used at least henna. Almost everyone is happy with the result. Some people are not satisfied with just the resulting color, but it is entirely up to you.

Hair after dyeing always remains beautiful, silky. Therefore, do not be afraid to try natural dyes on yourself - basma and henna. Experiments always give an image of unusualness and adventurism!
